Quick Report on two wonderful Delphi events

Since our last event in Harties we were fortunate to be involved in two other training events:

1) For KZN teachers were approximately 60 teachers attended  and
2) For schools in the Roodepoort area where approximately 220 learners and teachers attended

Below are some pictures of the events hosted by me, Heimo and Aubrey.

Like always we enjoyed the enthusiasm and the positive energy!

Harties IT Day 6 February 2016

On the 6th of February, it was our privilege to host our first Delphi Schools day at HoĆ«rskool Hartbeespoort.

Approximately 90 learners, and 11 teachers from schools all over the province attended the day hosted by TUT and UNISA.

Various concepts were presented which included concepts such as textfiles, the use of a FileOpenDialog and streams presented by TUT’s own Delphi Expert Mr Heimo Jeske.

The concepts presented included ideas towards animation the management of data packets as part of streams.

Bertie Buitendag presented two important CAPS concepts relating to dynamic object instantiation and the basic principles of OOP.

The CAPS notion of creating and utilising simple back end classes was again emphasised (which is often overseen by the national examination team)

Mr Aubrey Khoza, delighted the students with a two sample programs incorporating parallel arrays and textfiles in a Quiz Application.

Mr Khoza also used the same scenario and indicated how quiz questions could be obtained utilising standard web services, the SOAP component and JSON. This concepts could easily be incorporated by learners as part of their PATs.

The day ended with a last presentation pertaining to Master-Detail DB forms.

It is wonderful to have noticed the students and teachers dedication towards the subject. Two learners joined from Polokwane in Limpopo, and some as far as from Klerksdorp.

We look forward to our second workshop to be held on the 13th of August, at HS Roodepoort.

A big thank you to Mrs Dalize van Heerden of UNISA and Mrs Gerda van der Merwe of HS Hartbeespoort who have helped with all the arrangements. It was a wonderful day indeed!
